How we got here

If you know me or my husband personally...and let's be real if your reading this I'm sure you do.

You'd know that we don't tend to do things "normally".

So here's bit of back story...

December 2021 we found out we were pregnant over the moon, terrified you name it we felt it.

February 1 2022- we went for our first ultrasound. Where we found out there were not one, but two healthy heart beats... My husbands face went pale, I on the other hand sat up and said "there's two what?! Oh shit..."followed by "what the fuck "

After that we learned of some other complications that could make carrying the twins to full term difficult. But we were doing everything we could!

My pregnancy was going perfect, and there were no signs of them coming early we thought we had beat the odds.

Then came Wednesday June 22, 2022. Woke up around 3am and was pretty sure my water had broke... It had. We went to the hospital where we found out that their NICU was full and I would have to be transferred to Fairfax or UVA. My husband and I chose Fairfax. A very bumpy ride down 66 in the back of an ambulance and the plan was to stay there for multiple weeks (about 6) until the babies would come.

Early Friday morning (June 24) something didn't feel "right" I was up from 1 am until around 8 and couldn't understand why I couldn't get comfortable. The doctor and nurses said it was just the way one of the babies was laying. Sure, made sense to me!

Turns out that was not the case at all. At 8:30 ish I was rushed to the OR and the babies were on their way! Austin arrived at 9:05 am weighing in at 2 lbs 13 oz and Michael at 9:13 weighing in at 2 lbs 5 oz.

They were rushed to the NICU and so began our parenting journey. In the most unorthodox way.
