Random thoughts and updates

 I was never one of those women who said "being pregnant is great I love this..." Especially towards the end of my pregnancy (all 6 months of it) I was down right uncomfortable. Couldn't lay down like normal, turning over in bed felt like I had run a marathon and climbing up in the truck was enough to knock me out. But, now that I have had the boys part of me misses being pregnanct. The feeling of them moving and experiencing all the little things, hiccups, heck even my ribs being bruised...do I wish I would have stayed pregnant longer, yes but only for the fact of it would have given the boys time to grow. But our boys had other plans!

Updates:

Austin is steadily moving up in milk he has made it to 15mL (they were both at 6mL at the beginning of last week). Austin's pic line looked a little infected so they removed it and put a normal IV in. The doctor is hoping that we only need it for a few more days and then he will be getting all his nutrients from milk alone. 

Michael is up to 12mL with a "protein powder" added in to help with having extra calories and in turn gaining more weight!

Austin is about 14 and a half inches long. Michael is definitely the littler brother at 13 and a half inches long. But as one of the nurses said "man he is handsy" he loves to grab everything that is on him and pulls at it. 

God has blessed us with small, but otherwise perfect babies.

 Sunday June 26 we were was discharged, but obviously the boys weren't going to be able to come home with us. The tears, and the emotions I felt were something I have never felt before and impossible to explain to someone who has never been through this.  I'm planning on using this blog as an information dump. 1) for myself to process what all is going on in our lives  2) to provide updates to family and friends 3) to help me remember what happened from day to day.

One whole year!!!

The boys are ONE today!! ( I had good intentions on the 24th 😜) I've been reflecting a lot this week from being put in the hospital on June 22, thinking I'd be 'living' in the hospital for the next 6 weeks, to being rushed to the OR just two short days later to deliver.  (Austin didn't know how to wait from the beginning of life 🤣) I've been thinking about how little the boys were, how I had no idea how we were going to handle this, how can they survive this little? The amount of machines hooked up to them was terrifying. In case you've forgotten, this is Michael And here is Austin Michael had surgery in June and handled it like a champ!  Now I have two healthy, funny little men who are keeping me on our toes even more than before!  As of July 1 -They are both scooting and crawling isnt far behind -We are officially done with formula!!!! -Their favorite food is spaghetti -Austin is still Roczen's favorite -Both love standing wit...

How we got here

 If you know me or my husband personally...and let's be real if your reading this I'm sure you do.   You'd know that we don't tend to do things "normally". So here's bit of back story... December 2021 we found out we were pregnant over the moon, terrified you name it we felt it.  February 1 2022- we went for our first ultrasound. Where we found out there were not one, but two healthy heart beats... My husbands face went pale, I on the other hand sat up and said "there's two what?! Oh shit..."followed by "what the fuck "  After that we learned of some other complications that could make carrying the twins to full term difficult.
