6 weeks old!! (34w 3d)

The boys are 6 weeks old now!!! While being away from them for 10 days from COVID was the hardest thing we've ever done it definitely made us so excited to see them again. The amazing nurses kept journals for us and marked all the mile stones they hit while we were gone. 

Austin is still the bigger brother at 4.14 pounds. He has gained 2lbs since birth! He is loving the open crib. Still HATING the prongs in his nose but loves his pacifier when he has to use them. Austin loves to give grumpy looks when he is trying to figure something out..like what the heck this thing is on his face. But he is also a great sleeper! Doctors are going to try and remove the oxygen next week 🤞if that does well he will be on the nasal cannula for a week or so and then no oxygen!!! 
Austin's check list to come home:
✔️ Open air crib
✖️ No oxygen
✖️ Eating by mouth (can't do this until oxygen is gone) 

Michael has been moving mountains too, just smaller ones. He is loving the minimum oxygen that he has. He loves to look around the room and figure out where noises are coming from. He is also the smiley- est baby I've ever seen. We have definitely seen a bit more of his personality coming out lately. We are hoping to get into an open air crib soon but with him being smaller and using his energy to breathe on his own it's taking just a bit longer than Austin. But that's okay! Michael also got to try breastfeeding yesterday for the first time and did SOO good. Think once he gets the hang of it we will be good to go!

✔️No oxygen
✖️ ✔️Eating by mouth-were working on this one! 

Philip and I believe that they will be home before the end of August!!

 Sunday June 26 we were was discharged, but obviously the boys weren't going to be able to come home with us. The tears, and the emotions I felt were something I have never felt before and impossible to explain to someone who has never been through this.  I'm planning on using this blog as an information dump. 1) for myself to process what all is going on in our lives  2) to provide updates to family and friends 3) to help me remember what happened from day to day.

One whole year!!!

The boys are ONE today!! ( I had good intentions on the 24th 😜) I've been reflecting a lot this week from being put in the hospital on June 22, thinking I'd be 'living' in the hospital for the next 6 weeks, to being rushed to the OR just two short days later to deliver.  (Austin didn't know how to wait from the beginning of life 🤣) I've been thinking about how little the boys were, how I had no idea how we were going to handle this, how can they survive this little? The amount of machines hooked up to them was terrifying. In case you've forgotten, this is Michael And here is Austin Michael had surgery in June and handled it like a champ!  Now I have two healthy, funny little men who are keeping me on our toes even more than before!  As of July 1 -They are both scooting and crawling isnt far behind -We are officially done with formula!!!! -Their favorite food is spaghetti -Austin is still Roczen's favorite -Both love standing wit...

How we got here

 If you know me or my husband personally...and let's be real if your reading this I'm sure you do.   You'd know that we don't tend to do things "normally". So here's bit of back story... December 2021 we found out we were pregnant over the moon, terrified you name it we felt it.  February 1 2022- we went for our first ultrasound. Where we found out there were not one, but two healthy heart beats... My husbands face went pale, I on the other hand sat up and said "there's two what?! Oh shit..."followed by "what the fuck "  After that we learned of some other complications that could make carrying the twins to full term difficult.
