I'm coming home, coming home, tell the world I'm coming home.
Ahhhhh! We made it. Our NICU journey is over!!
Michael, being the tiny but mighty guy he is, got to graduate and come home on 9/6 after 74 days (10 weeks 4 days) in the NICU. Our first night home wasn't too bad although we are still figuring out things he likes and doesn't like.
Leaving Austin behind at the hospital was frickin' hard not going to lie. There were tears shed and I felt so torn about being excited to take Michael home but leaving Austin behind. However, I knew that it was going to be short lived because if all went well Austin would be home in 2 days. The nurses assured me he wouldn't be lonely and would get all the snuggles.
Austin got to graduate on September 8! 76 days (10 weeks 6 days). Having both home has been a lot. His first night home was... ROUGH. But we're figuring it out one day at a time, hell one minute at a time 😂
Looking back, we've come so far. I can't believe they are now 11 weeks. My due date was September 13 and we made it home before then, in the NICU world that's a win, a major win. We were so blessed the NICU taught us how to be parents, and best help our children. While I am thankful for the nurses, I'm even more thankful that our family is under one roof.
Here's some pictures since we've been home!
